Subcision for scars

Subcision is a surgical technique used for scars affecting the mid dermis to deep dermis.  These type of scars are clearly visible as indented areas that can be flattened by stretching the skin taught.

Subcision  is carried out under local anesthesia. A special arrow shaped blade, called a Nokor needle, is inserted beneath the scar and moved around in a way that causes a space to form beneath the scar. The space fills up with serum and blood and causes immediate elevation of the scar.
