Iontophoresis for sweaty hands and feetĀ is a safe, simple and effective treatment for the palms and soles.
The treatment works by passing a very weak electrical current through the skin.
When treating the hands, both hands are immersed in separate water containers, before the electrical current is activated. A treatment session lasts 20 minutes and is done 2-3 x/week.
Improvement can be expected after about 10 treatments. Once there is satisfactory improvement, 1-4 treatments per month are used for maintenance.
The treatment can be slightly uncomfortable, but is generally easily tolerated.
Hi.
I suffer from excessive sweating of the hands and feet. Can this procedure be performed on both the hands and feet? Would the prices differ? And would my hands stop sweating after every treatment? I seem to notice that my hands do not sweat all the time, only when exposed to heat or if my mood fluctuates. But when my hands do start to sweat, my feet does as well. It is rather uncomfortable.
Hi LeeAnne. Iontophoresis can be done on hands and feet. It does not work in everybody, but in most people. The cost is the same for hands and feet.
Hi,
I have been getting botox injections in my hands for my hyperhidrosis, and it was effective at first but the last two sessions did not really help at all. My hands are still sweating despite the botox and my dr does not know why.
I would like to explore iontophoresis as possible treatment, but I am not sure if it will be worthwhile if the botox did not work either. Do you think it can be beneficial even if botox doesn’t seem to work for me?
Dear J. Is is possible that the iontophoresis might still work, but it is much most time consuming. Did the Botox dosage change perhaps?
