I recently spent a week with Prof. Goodman in his practice in Melbourne, Australia. Prof. Goodman is a dermatologist and a world authority on the treatment of Acne scarring. He is responsible for a substantial part of the academic literature on Acne scarring.

I was fortunate to observe and discuss with Prof. Goodman the whole array of treatments for Acne scarring. It was an intense learning experience and a wonderful supplement to the academic literature.

Dr. Louw presented a talk, “The Use of 5FU for Keloids” at the South African Society of Dermatological Surgery congress in Port Elizabeth that was held from 10 – 12 May 2013.

Dr. Louw attended the South African Society for Dermatological Surgery and Vitiligo Society of South Africa annual congress from the  11 – 13 May 2012. The congress was held at the Vineyard Hotel, Newlands, Cape Town.

An opportunity arose to buy an old house in a fantastic location in the Panorama Medical Zone in 2011.

The house was partially demolished for the conversion to a dermatology clinic. The practice is situated across the street from the Panorama Oncology centre and next to the Panorama Psychiatry Clinic.

Dr. Louw presented a talk, “The Use of the Ellipse Flex Intense Pulsed Light system in Dermatology” at the South African Society of Dermatological Surgery congress. The congress was held at the Le Franschhoek Hotel in Franschhoek from 7-9 August 2009.

Dr. Louw visited Prof. Peter Bjerring in Aarhus and Vejle in Denmark from 16 April 2007 to 19 April 2007. Prof. Bjerring is an expert in laser and light therapies.

Dr. Louw visited Dr. Dick Groeneweg at the Maasziekenhuis hospital in Boxmeer, Netherlands from 10 April 2007 to 13 April 2007. Dr. Groeneweg is an expert in the treatment of leg veins with non-foam sclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy and endovenous laser ablation.
